The Noble Gases

The most common noble gases are helium, neon, argon and krypton. All are odorless, colorless gases. Most are nontoxic to humans. Radon is the only noble gas with its name not derived from Greek. The noble gases are given that name because they do not react with other elements. {They are "snobbish" and do not "mingle" with the commoners.} They are also referred to as the Inert Gases. They have a completely filled outer electron level; therefore they do not need to react like the other elements. Some of the heavier noble gases have been made to react with fluorine (a halogen) under controlled laboratory conditions.
