The other non-metals are some of the most important elements in the universe and in our bodies. Carbon is the base element for life. Hydrogen is the most common element in the universe. Oxygen and hydrogen bond to form the most important substance to life on Earth - water. Nitrogen is about 70% of the air in our atmosphere, and phosphorus and sulfur are important nutrients we need in our diets. |
