Periodic Properties are the properties of the elements that change predictably as you go across a period or down a group on the periodic table. | |
| If you know the properties of an element, you can predict quite successfully where it belongs in the periodic table. | ||

Atomic Size - size of the atoms |

| Ionization Energy - energy required to take 1 electron away | ||
| Electronegativity - ability of an atom to attract electrons | ||
| Melting Point - temperature at which a solid will melt | ||

Boiling Point - temperature at which a liquid will boil |

Density - mass per unit volume | |
| Electron Configuration - the way electrons are arranged around the nucleus | ||
| Metallic Properties - elements are either classified as metals, nonmetals or metalloids | ||
| State of Matter - either solid, liquid or gas. Most elements are solids. | ||
